Our very first rock & roll artist(s), and the band most responsible for inspiring the idea of The Full Catalog podcast, Red Hot Chili Peppers are a band with a story unlike any other. Dropping their first (Self Titled) album in 1983, but not achieving real mainstream success until 1991’s Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik album, the Chili Peppers are a tale of drugs, and sex and drugs, and rock and roll, with an extra side order of drugs. While founding members, singer Anthony Kiedis, and bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary have been there for the entire journey, the guitar has been manned by over a half dozen members, with founding member, the late Hillel Slovak, John Frusciante (on now 3 different occasions), Dave Navarro (of Janes Addiction fame), and Josh Klinghoffer (who appeared on 2 full length albums), being the most notable. The drums were originally manned by Jack Irons (who would join Pearl Jam after leaving RHCP), and Cliff Martinez (who played on the band’s first 2 albums after Iron’s initial departure), with D.H. Peligro (Darren Hensley) playing a short stint, before Chad Smith came to man the sticks from 1988 to present.
